Self Promotion for the Actor?

Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you guys had any tips or experience with self promoting / publicizing yourselves as actors? I have done the obvious imdb - upload photos, created a website but I mean off the internet, how would someone build their public profile to help gain recognition that leads to more film role oppotunities?

Are you Equity or SAG? If not, just look in the trades and go to auditions, as many as you can!
If you have an agent and they're not sending you to auditions, get a new agent.

Talent Agents and Casting Directors have no interest in viewing your website. You're wasting your time.

Perform in plays so you can be seen. They want to see what you do on stage or film, before they meet with you.

Audition for theatre productions, book the role and ask the agents to attend the show.

Be everywhere or at least appear to be. It really helps to look model good. In fact many of the new actors are also models. Voice over work is great including books on tapes, commercials, cartoons and video games. I hear the going rate for voice over work in advertising is $20,000-$60,000 a project.

Also don't be afraid to do "lots" of independent movies. If you look at the dozens of movies the major actors have done you will see a lot of made for TV movies, made for cable movies and movies you never seen promoted on the big screen.

Hey! I believe that the best way of getting yourself known is to appear in as many plays as possible. You could also try making some commercials, because some directors could see you and they might want to give you a part.
And about film opportunities, you should try going to castings as often as you can.
