Immigrants come for a better life. A better life translates into SUVs, air conditioners, washing machines, etc. Energy consumption and air pollutants will multiply in proportion to population growth. Therefore would it not be in our best interest to close the boarders and deport all the illegals? At least then we could control our noxious C02 output proportionately--right?

Have you ever been to a country that was equally or more obsessed with SUV's and trucks as the United States? I'm a world traveler, and I have NEVER seen such an obsession. Wouldn't it be a better idea to control all of those things anyways, regardless of who's using it? Last I knew, some poor immigrant popped in quarters to use someone elses washing machines and paid $1.80 to ride the public city bus....I don't see many of them running any of those luxury home appliances or driving SUV's. I think immigrants looking for the "better life" in America are the last to worry about when it comes controlling energy consumption & air pollutants.

Hmm...well, you may be right. But if that's so, then we should go further.

Let's close the farms they work on--those tractors, combines, and other farm equipment undoubtedly produce more greenhouse causing CO2 than SUV's and other consumer electronics.

And what about all the meatpacking companies that illegals work in, which depend on cattle from countries that have clearcut rainforest for grazing land?

And hey, we should definitely close all those factories along the Mexican-U.S. border: Texas, Arizona and California all have enormous pollution problems along the border.

Wait: let's also sterilize all those illegal immigrants we catch , too. More people mean more pollution and greater global warming. Hmm, maybe we should extend that to all Americans.

And--well, you get the idea...

Your question is obviously an attempt to bash illegal immigrants and global warming at the same time. You will have to work on your logic and conclusions in order to do that effectively. Even if all of the illegal immigrants were deported, global warming would still be a problem. Both issues have to be addressed seriously and not flippantly.

Everybody is responsible for causing Global Warming.
The electricity used to power your computers as well as every other convenience that you enjoy and don't want to give up.
The gas emissions from every car no matter how fuel efficient.
The trees cut down for every piece of junk mail that the Post Office delivers and/or ends up in the envelope with your monthly bills.
The lists go on forever.

Sure. There are more than 12-million new rumps expelling gas along our southern border. That can surely contribute to global warming.

Where's Al Gore?

How come he hasn't added that fact to his freeky declarations?
