Just like equations: We can solve this "inequations"

5 > r - 3

Adding 3 to each side, we have

5+3 > r-3+3
8 > r or r<8

r < 8

So we know that r can be anything less than 8. This means that a, b, and d are all true. The only one that isn't true is "c" because r must always be less than 8 so it cannot equal 8.

The inequality symbol changes when you multiply or divide by a negative number. not transposing

5 > r - 3

5 + 3 > r - 3 + 3

8 > r
