Even when my laptop is fully charged, it doesn't worked unless it's plugged in. As soon as I pull the cord out, it just immediately shuts off. Is there a way to use my laptop without the cord at all times? It's an older Compaq that runs Windows XP if that helps.

It seems kind of pointless to have a laptop that doesn't have mobility. Thanks for your help!

Laptop Batteries can and do die over time.

Get a new one from the vendor.

The problem is your battery. Either the battery isn't making contact with the rest of your computer, or it is totally dead. I would suggest getting a new battery if you ever want to go wireless again. If the computer is old, then so is the battery. I am surprised that your computer still works.

Have you checked that the battery is properly connected? It may not be holding a charge, if so you'll need to get a new one. You might be able to take it to a battery store or an electronic store to have it tested to see if it is the battery.

Have you bought a New Battery or had the old one tested?
Also, it might be a connection in the PC itself that cannot draw the power from Battery.... A few option to look at.

If can replace the computer battery. This might be th problem. I do not think it is the power plug in to the computer. If this is the case then send back to the company. If can not send it back then buy a new one.
