I have always thought that Jesus wanted God and money to be two separate things and that God would actually consider it a blasphemous act.
I was raised a Christian, I am agnostic now but I have always thought that Jesus was an amazing man with great ideas. I don't mean to offend or rile anyone, I truly believe that this is a strange thing to glorify God in such a material way.

To correct some peoples posts, it wasn't our forefathers didn't put "in god we trust" on money- it was added in the late 50's amid the communist scare.

If there is a "god", he/she/it has way too many other things in the universe to watch over and worry about than the appearance of currency on a second rate planet in an obscure solar system on the far edge of a rinky-dink galaxy.

I have always thought that Christians think way to much of themselves if they think "god" is personally interested in their every action, thought, word or deed; whether or not their football team wins or all that nonsense.

The United States had gone from a country founded on a solid belief in God to a country that now in many cases mock him. The founders knew that there must be a separation of church and state. That was based upon history and that was good. But even though the church did not control the government the country as a whole had this conviction.

The founders had the belief that any country who had a solid belief in God could not fail. And for centuries that has come to pass.

The Principal behind the words "In God we Trust" was that our founders had a deep understanding that we as humans are bound to fail if we do not have a God to keep us straight. And at that time the beleif in a God was almost universal by the people.

So many societies in history that have moved away from God have failed. I fear that we are moving to that end.

I'm pretty sure Jesus is okay with "In God We Trust" on money. He's got other things to worry about from the people who are asking why he lets bad things happen to good and innocent people, why people do bad things in his name, you know stuff like that. Our forefathers and foremothers wanted to give G His props, and not only is it on our currency, it's in the song "God Bless America". And I hadn't heard of anyone complaning about that phrase in relation to September 11, so it can't be that bad. It's okay, Jesus is very tolerant and puts up with a lot of shite from us on a daily basis, he's used to it, and he's really strong. He can take it.

God desires for us to live abundant lives, money is only one aspect of it. The sole love of money is where most people go astray in their concept of God's desire for us monetarily. There is nothing wrong with being wealthy, as long as you can stay focused on what is important in life. If one has to live in poverty all the time it makes life more difficult. This isn't what the Creator wants for us. By living rightly, giving where it is needed and being grateful for what we have, we are on the right path. Money and God are not mutually exclusive things.

i don't glorify God through money, if you want to know what Jesus has to say, ask him. Then keep your eyes and ears open. Oh, and maybe you should rethink some things, I think you had something with your ideas about Jesus.

Unfortunately "Jesus" couldn't be bothered to write his own book so he left that for others who decided to leave out 30 years of his life for some reason so we can't get a total picture of this man!

I believe you are exactly right! Jesus or God never wanted money to be sacrificed to him. He wants life and love to be sacrificed to him! Putting God on money might as well be an insult! If someone wants to honor God tell them to read their bible and pray, not exploit his face. God doesn't want people to worship money, he wants them to worship the real thing!!!
