Yes, but at the time it seemed like there was a lot of rubbish too.

Now it seems like there is even more rubbish, so I can't be bothered to listen out for the odd pleasant surprise. I wonder if I'm missing anything. The last thing someone played to me was the Kooks, and the album highlights were average.

I like a handful of bands/singers now, so I might look back in another twenty years and reminisce about 'all that good music'.

well, seeing as i was born in that decade (81' to be precise) yes. and so there was a lot of tripe back then, but it wasn't as exccessive as it is now. music today is crap. i like a lot of the 80's music, particuarly the pwl and stock, aitken and waterman era. kylie, jason donovan, rick astley, dead or alive, etc. it was cheesy yes, but it was fun music, memorable it was too and you could singalong to many of its hits. shame the same cannot be said about the current stuff in the charts

I would have to say yes. I prefer the music of the 50's - 90's.

Yeah ! I guess I have become what I accused my parents of - a dinosaur. Still what is wrong with a beautiful melody and memorable words written by a consummate composer/lyricist ? A song to keep in your head while others are beating their's.

I'm 39 now, so 80's music was the soundtrack to my adolescence.
I love 80's stuff, even the cheesy pop by Stock/Aitken/Waterman.
