On an international flight... how would I go to the bathroom if I had my baby with me and it was just the two of us...? Leave the baby alone while I go or take him in there with me... (new born baby that is)

I would of course take the baby with me. While a flight attendant would be happy to keep an eye on your baby for you, the liability is far too high even if just for a minute. If you have a baby carrier (the ones that strap on to you) i would use it and take him/her with you. Its better to be safe than sorry and if you change the baby at the same time then you can make double use of the trip.
good luck

I have never flown internationally, but I have flown numerous times around the country. Perhaps planes that fly internationally have larger bathrooms, but the ones I have been in barely have room for me let alone a baby, too. Airplane bathrooms are not always the cleanest or most sanitary places especially as the flight progresses. I would rather not bring my newborn into such a cramped and unsanitary place. If you purchase a seat for the baby and have him in a car seat, I would wait until he is sleeping and ask a flight attendant to stand by him while you go to the bathroom. There is no liability to watching a sleeping baby. There is also no liability in asking a flight attendant to stand outside the bathroom door holding your baby while you go in if you take your baby as a lap-sitter. I have had flight attendants offer to hold my babies for me on more than one occassion. You are on a plane, no one is going to abduct your baby. While possible, it is highly unlikely that child molesters frequent airplane flights looking for an opportunity to abuse a child. While it is always wise to be cautious, there is no need to be paranoid. Trust your common sense. It will tell you what to do when the time comes for you to need to use the restroom. I know it'll get me a lot of marks for a "bad answer" and I can hear a collective in-taking of breath now with thoughts of horror, but you could even leave the baby with someone who is sitting with you if it seems right. Even though you have just met this person on this flight, you can tell a person who likes babies and who would be fine with your child for the few minutes you would be gone. Most travelers strike up a rapport with those around them, especially on long flights. The vast majority are good people. Trust your instincts and do what seems right for you and your baby.

I personally would try to find a way to take the baby with me. I would NEVER leave it alone to go into the bathroom, and I probably wouldn't let someone else watch him or her either unless I absolutely positively had to.

You can always ask the flight attendants to sit with your baby while you run to the bathroom. Never leave them alone. They are always willing to do things like that for you.

I would never leave the baby alone. Take the baby with you.

Take him with you. He should be in his infant carrier car seat (yes, even on an airplane) anyway so just carry him in there with you. You should never leave a baby unattended.

I just went on a long flight with my 10 week old. I took him with me and they had a fold down changing table I strapped him into. It was VERY cramped and uncomfortable but it worked.

I would either take the baby with you if there is room or see about having an attendant hold him/her while I went.

Get a sling/baby carrier. Usually those are made so that you can still access your pants but your child will still be with you. Yeah, a little awkward, but at least you'll know s/he's safe.
