Very, very, very distant cousins. Both pigs and dogs are placental mammals, meaning they shared a common ancestor back 70 million years or so ago, but the familial relationship ends there.
Pigs are in the Order Artiodactyla. Their closest living relatives would be the hippos.
Dogs are in the Order Carnivora. Their closest living relatives would be the bears and weasels.
So dogs are about as related to pigs as a least weasel is to a river hippo.
I hope you weren't the one betting on the close relationship.

No, not in the same genus.
Just to add a short answer (in addition to haysoos's excellent response), dogs belong to genus Canis, while pigs belong to genus Sus. These two genera belong in turn to different mammalian orders.

I know that pug dogs (i own one) was a breed created by pigs and dogs a long long time ago in China. So maybe what you heard is correct and indeed true.

no pigs are in the genus Sus, and dogs, Canis. They are only in the same Class Mammalia. After that their anatomy is far different from their phalanges, and teeth.
