FDR declared a Bank Holiday to give banks a chance to close. People would panic that their saving would disappear and then storm a bank demanding all of their money. Banks cannot handle this because everbody's money is not just in the safe, its tied up in loans and such. Panics only worsen the affects of depression, so the holidays curbed this.

I hate to say this, but this is one that is so broad that people in here are not likely to respond, because there are just too many parts. You've essentially asked 17 questions in this one, and it becomes difficult to answer them all.

I will take my turn, however, and answer one of them, the TVA ... this was a plan to build a series of dams in the Tennessee Valley-River system. The essential purpose was multi-faceted, including, the control flooding, create electricity in an area that had very little, and of course as most of these plans, to create jobs building the dams. It is still a marvel of engineering and still creates a large amount of electricity.

In addition, the CCC was purely a plan to create jobs but in the process it allowed the construction of bridges, hiking trails, national park buildings, etc. In some areas of the country similar programs for young people right out of high school still exist.
