My friend and I were having a heated debate a few months ago and it suddenly has been plauging my mind again. Which is worse? Drugs (Morphine, Ecstasy, etc) or Alcohol (Tequila, Beer, Wine, etc)? My opinion, I would think Drugs would be far worse. He said Alcohol was. My other friend agreed with me. So now, I want to see what your opinions are of which is worse. And I'm not talking about Drinking & Driving. I'm talking about Alcohol itself.

And if you could, please explain why you think that.

Both are bad if used improperly. I drink, but do not use drugs. I do however give props to New Mexico for leagalizing medical marjuinna. Drinking is addictive, many drugs are too. Drugs are illegal , so there is never a right time to do them, whether or not you are careful. Drinking is very dangerous to your health. If you become addicted (when your organs become saturated) you will have a very tough time quitting. When and if you decide to quit many need to seek treatment and be under a care of a doctor, for the simple reason that with-drawing from the substance can cause many life threatening problems, some of those can induce heart attacks, strokes, and many more things. On the other hand with-drawing from drugs is much much worse.

My sister inlaw has done both seprately. First with just alcohol, and then she stayed sober from that but decided it would be a good idea to take up drugs. She did most everything but coke/crack was her drug of choice. When she went through rehab again and this time the with-draw was horriable, they had to medicate her stupid just so that her body could handle the shock of the drugs leaving her system, that damn near killed her.

So which is worse? The drugs, but hell, either one is bad. Say an alcoholic has been drinking for 40 years heavily, the shock to his system to stop would be far worse I would think than a woman who had been drinking for 7 years, but that is just pure speculation.

I understand your friends argument, but I think he is just talking pot because if he has personally ever seen anybody with draw from crack vs. alcohol he would sure change his tune.

Well actually BOTH.

For my personal opinion though it is; Drugs. Drugs and alcohol both are addictive, and hard to break. For some people it is impossible. Once addicted always addicted. You have to have the will power to use abstinence to stay away from BOTH. If a druggie switches to alcohol it's just another crutch. When a druggie drinks in order to try and satisfy his/her craving for the ultimate high, they will be so absorbed in alcohol to convince themselves that just one little taste of the magic drug won't hurt anything. Then they are hooked all over again.

Well, it depends on what type of drugs! For instance, I would classify Marijuana as the least harmful of all, including alcohol! It is very rare you here of a fight that broke out because of excessive Marijuana smoking, or somone who smoked too much and could not control themselves or what happened to them. Alcohol on the other hand if taken just slightly in excessive use can have completely devistating affects on the body and emotions! I am not an advocate for drugs, I just think that Marijuana has a bigger upside than a down side and definitley a bigger upside than alcohol!

Drugs

I say drugs. Simply because drugs are much more addictive, stays in your system longer and can be way more expensive to buy. I have seen many people ruin their lives over how to get their next fix. I'm not saying alcohol is good either but it is takes longer to become an alcoholic than a drug addict and it is less expensive. Hope this helps

Hmmm; Alcohol is a poison, its a depressant and people drink it feel better?. I admit i drink it but not too the extreme, i always regret it after. Alcohol is alot worse than some drugs but they are both as bad when abused.

Alcohol is considered a drug in many areas. But I guess I understand what you're asking...I would have to say that you can't compare the two, as they come from the same 'family'. They both cause chaos if used improperly....which they almost always are.

Alcohol is a drug. They are all bad when used in excess. Everything in moderation is okay. The only thing about alcohol is that it's legal. It is still abused by too many people.

Most drugs are worse than alcohol. Marijuana though, is not worse in my opinion. I think it should be treated like alcohol. You could only use it in certain places. I have seen a lot of violence & fighting from drunk people. Potheads don't seem to be so violent. What would they fight about anyway? "Who stole my Cheetos?"

They are both equally bad for you. But for some reason I think drugs are worse than alcohol.
