It's an MTD rear tine tiller. The shifter doesn't start the tines anymore? It will travel fine in forward and reverse but when I switch over to till it just keeps moving forward without the tines running? Has anyone had one of these apart? Is there a key in there that might be sheared off?

it's a mechanical lever and it's the same one that causes it to go forward and backward, it is rotating over to where the tines should start turning but, nothing is happening.

Check the cable or lever on the tine control handle. It may just be slipping or loose. If it is a cable, one of the clips that hold it in postion may be off or the screw came loose.
