Circumcision is when the foreskin is cut off. In some parts of the US it's very common, but fewer parents are having it done nowadays, since it carries many risks and some disadvantages; a new study has again shown that it reduces sensitivity. In some states the rate is as low as 14%, and despite what some say that it reduces the risk of AIDS, the US has the highest circumcision rate in the US and yet we have the highest HIV/AIDS rate, too. Europe, Latin America, and Asia doesn't circumcise at birth, it's mostly Jews, Muslims, and some Americans.

I'm uncircumcised in the US and haven't had problems. To clean it you just slide it back and rub the head when you shower (takes like 5 seconds and feels good).

ThinkingCurious has obviously not read the latest report from WHO where they report their findings for recently circumcised adult males as having a higher incidence of HIV than non circumcised adult males. As others have said here and I have said before.HIV started in the U.S.A,where most males are circumcised. As soon as it was discovered how the disease was transmitted and how it could be prevented,(by the use of condoms) the rates of HIV were cut dramatically.Circumcision is NOT the answer to cutting the spread of HIV in heterosexual or homosexual males. It will only lull them into a false sense of security by thinking that they are now safe. The only way to help stop the spread of the disease is by practicing safe sex and using condoms. So,yes,I suppose I am saying that the WHO is wrong.Just because it is a U.N body, does that mean they are infallible? No,of course not and their assertion that circumcision helps prevent HIV is now coming back to haunt them.Oh,and to answer the question, circumcision is the mutilation of a male infants penis,of course, without it's consent.

Circumcision is the procedure that cuts some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis. The frenulum may also be cut away at the same time, in a procedure called a frenectomy. The word "circumcision" comes from Latin circum (meaning "around") and caedere (meaning "to cut").

i am not big on spelling or grammar but your question is poorly written so i don't think you will get a lot of answers.
circumcision of a male is the removal of some of the foreskin from the penis followed by the stitching of the skin back together so that the top of the penis is always exposed.
prior to the operation the top of the penis is covered by this foreskin and you don't really see the top of penis .
every male child should have this done. just very recently the scientific studies have shown that being circumcised greatly reduced the chances of a male getting aids.
i also know that my brothers boy did not have this done at birth then when he was about 6 it had to be done for some medical reason and that poor boy was in pain big time for some time after.
if you looked on the net for pics of a penis chances are you would first find pics of one that is circumcised.
Jews do this as a matter of religious tradition others do it because it was thought to be better then for a short time thought not to be of any benefit but now like i wrote it is for sure a good thing to have done to a baby .

Circumcision is when surgeons or doctors cut the Foreskin off of a male's penis at the tip. Foreskin is extra skin at the tip of the penis.

I think its a religious thing. Some religions believe in it more than others. Still, whether or not to have it done is a big issue sometimes. Like Vaccinations.

Circumcision is male genital mutilation. The foreskin is not "extra" skin -- it is an important body part that protects the glans (head of the penis) and increases sexual pleasure. It became popular to remove the foreskin because it was thought to prevent masturbation and decrease sexual pleasure so that men would not be tempted to cheat on their wives.

It is a barbaric and disgusting practice which fortunately is decreasing rapidly in the US, which is the only place still commonly mutilating little boys for non-religious reasons.

So there you have it! One guys says it reduces the risk of aids while still another disputes it. Personally, I think it is a choice for personal hygiene and I can go along with the Jewish Religious beliefs! Outside of that, I see no other reason that's justifiable! As for the aids therory, total nonsense!
The doctor removes a piece of the foreskin exposing the head of the penis. That would explain the personal hygiene therory!

Okay people exactly what is being circumcised? i think is what you where going for :) its when at birth generally the foreskin on the head of the penis is removed - generally associated with health reasons, although this was disproved, and has since become a thing of the past practically - however i read a recent case study how it can aparently reduce the risk of HIV - and no im not circumcised

Also for that idiot that hasnt done his bloody research and saying how its nonesense go google it, or actually since i believe you are intellectually challenged ill just give you the link

It is when the overhanging skin on a mans penis (at the tip) is cut off.....this is normally done within a week after birth.
