Are you referring to Big Bang nucleosynthesis? It is the process by which elements formed during the period 100 to 300 seconds after the Big Bang. The only elements formed were hydrogen, helium, and lithium. The universe became too cool to support spontaneous fusion after that point. All elements heavier than lithium formed inside of stars through nuclear fusion, or were formed by the decay of heavier elements created through fusion.
