Say them in the morning to start your day with a positive. Then any time during the day that you may feel stressed out or anxious. I have affirmations written down and taped on the bathroom mirrors, the front door so I look at them before I leave the house and even in the car. The more you say them and the longer you do, the better you will feel. Keep at it. It really does make a difference.

There are no limits.
Affirmations don't of themselves, MAKE anything happen.

The idea behind affirmations is that we notice what we expect to notice.
So you keep saying your chosen affirmation(s), that focuses your attention, and so you more easily notice opportunities and evidence that support whatever you affirmation(s) are about.
And I guess saying them any time can be useful, though first thing in the morning and when you feel a bit stressed do seem like a good idea.

The downside is that the rest of the world knows nothing about your affirmations, so a new car/house/job/lottery win won't pop up just because you've been saying the appropriate affirmations.

Still, as long as you recognise that what you're doing isn't magic or infallibe BUT it can be a way of increasing your chances of spotting the right opportunity if/when it comes along, it's got to be a whole lot better than wandering around complaining.

As to setting time limits - I don't think so.

It all depends on the type of belief you are imprinting, and the belief (if any) you are looking to change. If you are using affirmations to over-write a deeply-held negative belief for instance, they may take a little longer, than if you were looking to change a more recently-acquired negative thought.

However, I find that when I use affirmations, things start changing within a matter of days.

HOW MANY TIMES A DAY? Look to repeat a particular affirmation about 500 times daily. This seems like a lot, but if you think that you probably think about 80'000 thoughts a day, it isn't all that much. 500 positive thoughts a day is often enough to make changes happen pretty quickly.

WHEN TO SAY THEM? Look to make about 100 repetitions in the morning as you wake up, and at night as you drop off to sleep. This is when the subconscious mind is at its most responsive, and your thoughts will sink in easiest. This way has the benefit of getting the day off to a positive start, and also allowing you to 'sleep on' a mind full of optimistic thoughts.

For the remaining 300, you could do them in short 'bursts' during the day. I like to set my stopwatch function on my mobile phone, and then keep on repeating the thought for 5 minutes at a time; then do the same thing again a couple of hours later.

HOW MANY TIMES TO SAY THEM? I have always found that 500 repetitions daily is enough to make changes happen. Some days though, you will 'get up a head of steam' in your mind (so to speak) where you are thinking one great thought after another. If this is the case, then simply carry on thinking, it means that your subconscious mind is really absorbing your thoughts and is 'recycling' them as feelings.

SYNCHRONICITY: There is a strong metaphysical belief that thoughts are energy forms, and they actually create your reality. So it makes sense to think constructive thoughts and have positive beliefs.

If you begin changing a belief through affirmations, you will also notice that after a few days, your actual physical realities start changing for the better. They will probably not be enormous changes all at once, but if you persist with your new thoughts, you life and world will change in bigger and bigger increments.

You build an energy vibration around you, and the 'stronger' this gets (be it positive or negative) the 'stronger' your life experiences get, be they positive or negative. This is what synchronicity is, and can be summed up in the saying

" When you build, then 'they' come "
" When you start, 'it' starts happening "

You decide what the 'they' and 'it' may be - they are what you desire to happen. All sorts of fortuitous coincidences, chance meetings and developments etc begin happening - as if you are a magnet attracting them. Try it and see what happens, just remeber to KEEP YOUR AFFIRMATIONS IN THE PRESENT TENSE. Your mind takes things literally, so imagine that the thing you desire is ACTUALLY HAPPENING NOW.

AND A WORD OF WARNING..... Don't coast on the momentum you build up. This is a common mistake people make (I have experienced it myself). People have success with affirmations, and they produce positive results, and then they don't bother thinking the thoughts anymore. Bit by bit, the positive realities begin to dry up and negative events creep back in.

This is because they have sat back on their laurels, but if you want a belief to really take root, you have to keep on repeating the affirmation for 100 days at least. This sounds like a lot, but once you get used to thinking positive thoughts, it becomes easier - as if it is second nature to you.

So pick a positive thought (one which brings you greatness) and keep on repeating...your mind will take care of the rest.

With this sort of thing, the more you repeat the affirmation the more it works. One good idea is to record a cassette tape for yourself to listen to in your car. You just sing the affirmation words to differnt tunes and they become `stuck` in your head. i.e......
"I am pretty, I am pretty, as pretty as pretty cab be..." and then repeat again to the same or different tune. It is very effective.
