I need to open a safety deposit box......only I can't seem to find any information online regarding any banks in the uk that have there or if they have them what rates they charge?

Can anybody advise me please?

Generally, you have a safety deposit box in the bank where you hold your current and deposit account. Barclay's do not charge you for this service if you bank with them. Phone your bank for details, or go and see them as you have to sign some papers anyway, they need a specimen signature.

In the old days you could hide stuff from the authorities and the soon-to-be-ex wife with a Safety Deposit Box.

These days everyone is so concerned re: terrorist activity, that the Banks will 'be fully aware' of exactly what you put in one (don't believe you are the only one with keys :-) )

Of course, the Bank now has to declare everything to the Inland Revenue, so it's only a small step for your soon-to-be-ex wife's Solicitor to find out ..

You could walk over to the bank and ask a live person
