Dear Roses there is actually a name for your condition it is called ombrophobia, from the two Greek words Ombros, meaning rainstorm or thunderstorm and Phobia, meaning fear of. I would suggest headphones and some beautiful Chopin or Mozart with the window shades closed during such storms.

My condolences. Sorry I cannot offer more than that. I have lived my whole life here in the Sunshine State which also happens to be the lightning strike capital of the US. So, I am used to thunder and lightning. I used to be scared of the big bangs and booms involved too--especially the ones that would shake the whole house. But, I just learned all I could get my hands on about what a thunder clap is, and what a lightning bolt is and what causes them. My point:
"Fears and fantasies should be replaced with knowledge and respect". Most things are always worse in a fearful imagination than they are in the real world.
No matter what you try, good luck.

If she remains interior close to the middle of her living house then no lightning will hit her. If a thunderstorm is drawing near, turn on the television and watch the information to work out if there's a twister watch. If there is then pay attention for a noisy prepare-like sound. that could be a twister. we've a closet below our stairs, yet whilst she doesnt have that get to the middle on the living house in a room without living house windows. whether it quite is a one tale living house, she would desire to get in the tub. that is all assuming she hears a prepare sound.

Move to Florida. We get so much thunderstorms its not even funny. During June-October we get storms every single day, maybe even 2 times a day. If your fear doesnt go away like that, there is no way you can take it away
