I propose 3 to 5 thumbs down per user per day, BUT, the limit is not enforced, the user must take care of their own use or a loss of 5 points for each over used thumbs down...... what do YOU think?

Well Mau, if you need a second account, then in my opinion you are an abuser who expects to be suspended, TRU?

This is a hard question to answer. I have a hard time dealing with answers that receive BA with the response of "idk", or just a "yes" or "no" when the reader can see there are much better answers in the list of responses. It's a way the community of answerer's can express their displeasure.

On the other hand, you have a good point. Trolls and others can be quite abusive in their use of the system, but if you are taking 5 points off over the limit for thumbs down, then you would have to do it for thumbs up to be fair.

I suggest leaving it alone for the time being. The person you gave a thumbs up to receives a point, but they do not have points taken away with a thumbs down, whereas you the rater get zapped, even if you find a simply revolting response.

I may not agree with you, but I defend your right to disagree with me.

Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down should be equal, no limit.

And how will you stop people from signing in as different user(with 100 points) and then giving 'thumbs down'?

Naw. Who cares if someone puts a thumbs down. I really don't mind. It still shows that they are paying attention and I matter one way or another.

No. It is really taking the fun out of this site for so many people to become the answers police. Thumbs down abuse? Give me a break.

I disagree. I read more than 3-5 stupid/rude/inappropriate responses in my first 5 minutes.

I think that, having being suspended (fairly!) twice, I am past caring.

I love it, some with reporters, limit it to.
