I pretty much agree with everyone else here, like how the media, celebrities/models, magazines, and society itself contributes the way we think. "Image is everything" is something most of us would deny, but it still affects us. Most girls think it is attractive 'cause it makes us look younger and lean & sexy, because of that some would go overboard to become skinny.

Actors or any celebrity usually have time to workout and they would have to if they want to play a certain character in films, or some just do for their own health which is different, or go way to the extreme to become anorexic.

All the models/actor we see are usually horribly skinny & unhealthy and they have tricks to make their skin glow or to make them healthier than they really are. I know in some asian countries being too skinny means you are poor and that you don't have enough to eat (which can be unattractive). The ones with meat are considered rich... but you still see skinny models around.

I also believe our lifestyle and the way we eat determines how we look physically... not god.

everybody wants to be skinny because they think that it's going to affect how people look at them. For instance, you might like someone and they tell you that you're fat. I mean I have to admit I sometimes go crazy about my weight even though I'm average. I have a lot of friends who aren't exactly thin and they're made fun of all the time. People also don't understand that sometime you can't help being fat and some people might disagree. I know you should exercise or whatever but you have to be like really commited to it. It's not easy.

it extremely is the custom we are residing in. the celebs we glance to this aspect. ninety years in the previous being extremely skinny grew to grow to be the seem. bear in mind flappers from the Roaring 20s? They discriminated all those who did no longer have a boyish figure. Slowly females persons began to get more advantageous curvy like Marilyn Monroe and that is at the same time as it began to be very perfect to have curves. the reason human beings say "move devour a cheeseburger" is using actual fact all individuals began seeing fashions starving themselves to the aspect they have been sickly searching. Plus it grew to grow to be put in our minds that skinny is larger perfect from searching at skinny actresses for some years. ultimately individuals are declaring it is alright to have curves and love the way your body is.

media, celebrities, magazines for weight loss. i mean come on, we've all seen em. most people want to be skinny because they think over-weight people don't have much of a way in life. that's including relationships, work, self-esteem, and even just walking on the street. being skinny is alright if you're happy with it, but if you're starving yourself then duhh thats a problem.

Being thin makes people feel better, being over weight is not what 'god' made you its usually because of bad choices by parents, which then causes bad eating habits on the person when they grow up and they always stay fat. Or they get fat over the years due to lack of exercise.

I agree we should be happy how god made us but:

"Never Too Rich or Too Thin" author unknown.
Thin is in. Females on Cosmo, other magazine's/runway models are unhealthy skinny. Think about Karen Carpenter. Yikes, and this is what our female children aspire to be like.

i agree, but you know all we see are the SKINNY models and celebs plastered all over the tv and print and told how fabulous they are. so whether we consiously want to do it or not we try to be like them thinking thats what our life is missing... "if only i was as skinny as____________ i would have a better boyfriend, clothes, more money... whatever. its pretty sad. Its almost got to the point that we think its the answer to all our problems! when in reality we would have all the same issues.

Because many people think thinness is more attractive and healthy-looking. But then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

people have differant standards of beauty, I'm a waif and like it but I wouldn't mind looking like Salma Hayak either.
I like being skinny because:1)i'm flexible, 2) i appear more delicate and youthful, 3)my checks are nolonger chipmunk-ish, 4) i'm legger, 5)i have more energy, 6) my figure is now a perfect hourglass,..............

It's all relative. People want to look healthy (generally) and not like they are over indulgant. Ask someone who's dieting if they want to look like a starving Ethiopian - that's probably not what they want.
