Wild turtles get REALLY stressed when captured. This stress can cause them to not eat, get ill, etc. It is strongly suggested that wild turtles are released after you have had the chance to appreciate them for a little while.
If you decide to keep it, the most likely causes of not eating are that the tank is too small, too cold, too dirty, too poorly lit, etc. or that you are offering the wrong kind of food.

Are you feeding him turtle pellets? I have a little turtle that was found in our yard last May. He eats turtle pellets. He goes through times where he eats constantly and other times where he doesn't eat for days. Just watch him and try the turtle pellets also blood worms can be bought where fish food is sold and my turtle likes those.

Do you have a turtle or a tortoise? This makes a big difference! Assuming its a turtle here is my next question do you have the proper habitat for it? You can find that out here: http://www.anapsid.org/reslider.html
Are you feeding it the right food?
The best thing to do when you don't know what to do is to do nothing. Put it back!

Wild caught animals really don't take well to captivity.
1st thing make sure its not sick. Are eyes open, is it active?
Next new habitat: CLEAN WATER, uvb lighting, proper temp. 72-82, land and water area with enough room to move around.
Now for feeding I use a seperate bowl at the same time every day. This way I know how much he eats and I don't foul his tank water with leftovers.Turtles have to be in water to digest. Try giviing it different foods till he eats. Feeder fish, mine loves bloodworms, shrimp, canned tuna, cooked salmon and chicken. You can try the store bought foods and a variety of green veggies to.
Read up their is plenty of info on the web. If you do decide to put it back make sure it is not sick first.

Try something that looks more like natural food than flakes.
Most likely though, he's too cold. Is he moving about or sitting still? Remember they're cold blooded.
