Chlorine is present in ALL tap water so you shower in it everyday.
Long-term exposure to chlorine may help some people with acne because chlorine dries skin but also softens it.

I do not think, that all swimmers have a clear skin. If you looked last championship of the world on swimmers with a different skin navigation - there participated. And chlorine added in water of pool, desinfect it, as many different people there float and the probability is great to infect others, if someone than that is sick. And the still - chlorine chemically very active - it is a strong oxidizer, for this reason it add in water of pool.

I'll tell you what, I know a lot of swimmers who don't have clear skin! However, they are exposed to chlorine and it does kill bacteria so it's as though they get an "extra" clean facial/body wash every time they are in the pool.
Also, in the summer, the skin tans and the pores are sometimes less visible. Combined with the chlorine, swimmers may seem to have clearer skin.
However, it's relative because I have seen some crater-faced and "back"ned cases behind the blocks as well! Alot of it is hormonal...

Not all swimmers have clear faces... though people think this it is because the chlorine dries your skin out which also dries out your zits!!

Yes, the chlorine in the water drys everything up (oils, impurities). But, this also makes swimmer skin very, very dry. I have to grease up with lotion soo much.

Not ONLY Chlorine---If you Swim in the OCEAN there is the SALT in Sea Water---As in a Gargle to Kill the BACTERIA in your throat---There are those with Pock marked Faces and Wrinkled Foreheads,BUT that Stems From Chronic and AGE related Conditions other than Exposure to WATER---The SUN Does a LOT,REFLECTING off the Water with a MAGNIFYING EFFECT---As one ANSWER said It's Like a Good Scrubbing---Happy Swimming---Signed---JEM

yes, it's the chlorine, it drys it out and helps prevent pores, and doesn't block them. That's why when I'm not swimming, when swimteam season is over in February, my skin breaks out bad! Hope this helps!

alot of it has to do with the chlorine but the down side is that you have to keep your skin mosturized due to the chlorine drying your skin out.

the chlorine in the water causes this...it has bas side affects to but they are not severe..it could cause your skin to dry out in excess but its such a small amount in th water that it just keeps the skin clear. I don't know why they don't just sell chlorine water for people with acne!!
