Ironic??
This must be a first time for the records that an NCAA team won both football and basketball championship and against the same opponent in the same school year. Florida over Ohio State. How come no one mentioned that last night at the game?

Yes it is, for both. I imagine that the TV announcers were more interested in the repeat championship story than that, but it is in written accounts of the game:

"They celebrated with the usual Gator chomps and took a chomp out of NCAA history, too -- becoming the first team to repeat since Duke in 1991-92, the first ever to go back-to-back with the same starting five and adding their name to the debate about the best teams of all time.

Best athletic programs of all time, too.

This win completes a 2007 championship-game sweep of the Buckeyes in the two biggest college sports -- men's hoops and football. Florida, a 41-14 winner in the football title game in January, remains the only program in history to hold both championships at the same time."

Yes it is the first time. All schools must bow before the all-powerful juggernaut that is the Florida Gators (especially Ohio State).

Yes, it's the first time - I heard one brief mention on the radio this morning - that's it.
