Since some psychologists, biologists, etc believe it's a "genetic mutation" are they searching for a cure? Or are we at the point now that most people don't view as an illness or weird fetish but a lifestyle? And what I mean like lifestyle, it's treated more like someone's religion or other choices.

I know Christians are trying and tried for years through "Christian counselling", pro heterosexuality camps, shock therapy, etc.

I'm not suggesting they find a cure, I just know that it's not always the radical Christian that has a problem with homosexuality. Sometimes social scientists and other type of scientists do and it may or may not always be for religious reasons. And not every non Christian is automatically accepting of it either. And I agree those Christian camps don't work and are despicable. First off even in those camps they have to room with the same sex, which you would think for the type of camp it is, they would mix genders up and have opposite sex roommates. "Gasps", that's a sin too. So no matter how you look at it, Christians must eat what they can't sell (to the public). It's like they have to cut off their arms because they are trapped.

Well, some conservative Christians got real hopeful, and some LGBTs and animal rights activists got real scared, when it came out that scientists were trying to determine what makes gay sheep gay:

And Albert Mohler of the Southern Baptist Seminary (he's a big wheel in that church) wants an in utero cure for gayness found:

Oh, and this article about the possibility that it can be detected in utero (and potentially gay kids aborted, cured, or made) might interest you:

I don't know any scientist who would do such a deplorable thing as try to 'cure' homosexuality, which is not a disease - it is a perfectly normal variation on sexual orientation which is present in the genome of 10% of individuals - not only in humans, but in 1500 animal species. Most people do not view homosexuality as an illness or a fetish.

The homosexual 'lifestyle' is merely how someone chooses to express their sexuality - a homosexual person may be out of the closet, may be in the closet, and may either make a big deal of or not make a big deal of their homosexuality.

I am a scientist myself, and I can tell you most scientists are extremely accepting of homosexuality.

Radical Christians' attempts to eliminate homosexuality simply do not work and are rather damaging anyway.

There is no need for a "cure" for something which is not an illness.
Homosexuality does not adversely affect the physical capabilities of a person.

Those "cures" you mention involving Christianity have never actually worked.

There is already a cure for homosexuality. It was discovered many years ago in Germany by a man named Adolf Hitler. He murdered them.
What needs to be discovered is a cure for bigotry, discrimination, and ignorance. Just because it is not your lifestyle, doesn't make it bad. I don't understand why you can't see is simply as a state of being.

I think rather than trying to find a cure for a disease that does not exist, they need find a solution to the war, global warming, cancer, etc. They need to look at the serious issues.

Doubtless that there is someone somewhere, funded by some neo-Con group, who is doing research into just that.

Why they feel they should need to is another matter.
