If that will make you feel safer, then go for it. It's better safe than sorry.

The fact that you ask such a question tells me you had a rough time before with him. If it was really that bad then you ought to have someone there. An officer might antagonize him, but could be just the thing you need.

Was it really that bad? If so then I would say it might be a good idea to have someone there to keep the peace.

You should have some company (2 or 3 friends, neighbours or family). The sheriff could make it ugly. Have his things ready by the door. Don't let him in. Tell him if he's missing something he can let you know and you'll look for it.

Depends on your ex's behaviour during your relationship, if he lacked self control and was violent then yes, if not why make things worse, could there be a middle ground that you could have someone who is willing to stand up for you there?

yes, definitely. domestic disputes are the most dangerous call a law enforcement professional can respond to, and that is when the couple is together. separated couples have lots of issues (usually) and an impartial observer is a very good idea.

I would defintiely do that if you think the peace needs to be kept. If you would feel better for any reason to have the sherriff there, I would do it. You're only ensuring your own safety.

Thats what I did, you can contact the local pd, and see if they will have a peace officer there for you. if he is a jerk and abusive i would do nothing less.

If you think you need to sheriff there, you should probably turn him down. Plus you never know whether things will truly be different.
