What makes you think they're cowards? If anything they're completely the opposite. Too gung-ho for their own good, what with their superiority complex & their belief that they can do whatever they like. Plus it's well known that the Americans were extremely good fighters during WW2. True, they did join late, but that's more of a reflection of the political climate at the time. They had a non-interference policy before hand and they kept out of other countries affairs. Shame it's not the same now.

What do you base this statement on?

It might be fair to criticise the current administration for a poor approach to international issues, but there is no evidence anywhere I have seen to suggest that a large number of people think USA troops are cowards. Many stir up hatred of the USA etc but that is not the same as seeing them as cowards.

No, I think your amazement is self delusional.
Perhaps you are lonely?

Sidney, I think the media paints a very wide picture. I know that there are cowardly Americans just as there are mighty brave Americans. But there are quite a few countries out there that don't like us and will make us all out to be spoiled, self serving cowards. And in some cases that's true, just as it's true of all countries.

Only because USA get in WW2 in later 41 and not at '39?
Only because they try to hit weak countries meanwhile talk to half-stronger ones (North Korea)?
Only because they created a lot of centers supporting dictatorship and cruelty in early '70 in south america?
Only because they put all Native Americans into a subdue and massive bloodtreatment?
Only because CIA killed a lot of people many years ago "behind the scenes"
Only because alies bomb germans (civilians) while population flee from Berlin at '45?
Only because they tested Atomic bombs over Japan?

No, I don't think so.

North Americans are not seen as a cowards. I have never heard it.

Only small group talk about it. Only small group that probably did everything that USA did, but they were not enough compentent to sustain its position. Like small dog that envies big dog. Did you ever saw a Mastin barking to Shi-Tsu?

I speak 5 languages, I've lived in 5 countries and visited another big set and I never heard it. Instead, mostly admires American way and even Chine are just a feeble copycat.

North Americans have bigger intelectual produtcion, biggest army and are holding a lot of small wars.
North americans are almost reaching a level to know when fight and when should negotiate. They are Braves but not so much smart regarding wars.

North Americans left its country to die in strange lands. North Americans (USA and CANADA) brought soldiers, tanks, planes to fight against well succeded war machine. (South Americans also gave their help. A lot of soldiers, killed in action).

They did not due freedom, but for survival. Survive is something that only braves are able to do. Mostly coward sheeps just let Black Bones guy bring their end without fight.

Only the current American political leadership as characerized by the Bush administration embodies cowardice. Otherwise why the need for all this secrecy?

One can't generalize for an entire nation. One sees courage everywhere in all aspects of life in all nations, and all peoples.

The Liberals in American are the one that are cowards as I would assume that to be the case in other country's as well.

I don't understand" because of WW2" , because I know a lot of Brave men that fought and lost their lives in WW2

Really? I keep hearing that us Americans are seen as interfering bullies. Which, to my dismay, is pretty much true with Bush in office...

But, I would like to advise some of you not to clump all Americans together. There are quite a few of us unhappy with the war in Iraq, among many other things that Bush has been doing.

No you have to give credit where credit is due ..they came over here in WW2 .to help out our lads who were fighting abroad .no other nationality could have been so relentless in tackleing all those wives and girlfriends ..they must have been terrifying with their spiky curlers and big aprons and those brave GIs had to do the job with nothing but blanks to fire in most cases.

its easy to call someone names from behind a computer, but its doubtful that anybody would be stupid enough to walk onto an armybase full of soldiers returning from war and tell them they are cowards. Why, because it takes one to know one.
So one may call me a coward, but they will be doing it from the ground!!
