I'd say our society is pretty classless. I personally, do not fear class. I'd say we could use some class.

Where do people get the notion that "the rich take from the poor?" People put a price on their goods and services, and people who want those goods and services pay that price, go elsewhere, or do without.

No. Even the most socialist societies have the ruling class and peons. You have the top politicians driving around it limousines and others standing in line for a piece of bread.

Why would you want a classless society?

sure if you eliminate everything that makes people individuals. make every one a mindless drone and it could happen, but then again you need t have a leader for the drones...

Eliminate love, hate, desire, need, want, power, money, food, land, water, lust, sex, faith, religion, politics, economics, independent thought, creativity, imagination, height, weight, hair color, skin color, eye color, gender, sexual preference, apathy, competition, drive, blood type, land of origin, history, pride, ancestry and the list goes on. Once you do that we can have a classless society.

Simple answer humans are not capable of it. It is a dream nothing more.

America is a classless society.

A society of class is a society where it is impossible to rise above your station. In America, anyone can become wealthy, or anyone can loose their wealth.

Only if it's possible for every single person in that society to have the same amount of money, same amount of political power, and the same amount of social influence.

It certainly is. Extreme socialism and communism are examples.

But eliminating the class structure removes the carrot and leaves only the stick.

Yeah make every one equally poor and kill off the ones who are different from you. Of coarse you'd became a hitler-stalin mix.

No. Even the hippie communes of the 60's and 70's failed.

No. The rich will always try to take money from the poor, the middle class will leave everyone lone, and the poor will take money from the middle class.

No, but we (Americans) need to be more careful who we vote for in the future. The current regime seems hell bent on eliminating the middle class...
