Spyware. Download and install two free programs - Spybot Seek&Destroy and Ad-Aware SE Personal. You can get them from http://download.com Between them they should clean all the spyware off your PC.

Hi singaporeunknown,

Maybe you should use a more comprehensive virus or antispy scanner to detect the infection (that is, if it's caused by an infection). Or you can use other internet browsers such sa MSN or Mozilla to avoid that. But if you still prefer Microsoft Internet Explorer, download the latest, Internet Explorer 7. It provides the most secure browsing ever (you can only install it if you are running a genuine copy of Windows). If you are unable to solve these problems, try creating a new account in your computer. That will make everything fresh, better create another account rather than to reformat your hard drive. I hope my suggestions could help you. Thanks.

Try scanning with Ad-Aware and or HighJackThis. If you use HighJackThis, copy and paste the log at http://www.highjackthis.de and they will tell you what to clean out of your system. The reason that you are getting the pop-ups is because there is a Browser Helper Object that is highjacking IE and Norton does not scan for those.

You probably have spyware/adware.No anti-spyware can detect all spyware/adware..You need at least two anti spyware programs. The two I recommend are No Adware(Over 42,000,000 Downloads by people in over 100 Countries) and Spyware Remover

They can both be found on this page http://www.anti-spywares.info

Download, install and update both programs.

Run full system scans with both programs, they are able to find the problems and remove them.

Finally,Make sure you have 1 or 2 antispyware on your computer and 1 antivirus and also 1 firewall.

GOOD LUCK!

How about using firefox or mozilla browsers instead? No popups and lots less spyware and adaware.
