I can't imagine how much you're hurting, but he had to be true to himself. And unfortunately, people always get hurt along the way. Stay strong - your pot will get a lid.

Let me ask you something. Do you have anything behind your doorposts to remind you of deaths you feel complicit in? This could be turning your life into something private versus something public that is really a seeking to determine guilt ALL THE TIME. Of course, feelings stay with you but you don't need the reminders of implied guilt continuing in your life. Don't give signficance to those things. It also could be things you keep in your mouth because your lips are doorposts too. They represent doorways of opportunity in your life that you're scared of going through without checking that you're still trying to figure out if you're guilty or not. You might be scared of the real murderer/s.

You have to face the reality that he is a gay and your relationship will never go to distance without having to fight his feelings to another male. Let him go as a BF but maintain your relationship as a good friend.

awwww. You just have to let go of the idea of romance and love, that it is not want he wants. Just accept the idea that he will most likely be the best friend you will ever have, and that a close friendship with him is the best way to be a part of his life if you will let him.

Sounds like he already made your decision for you. And frankly, after 13 years, he should know if he wants to be with you or not. Move on.

The same way you let someone go for any other reason(other than death). You pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on with your life.

Know that it wasn't your fault. You can't help your boyfriend being gay - who knows how long he kept that from you. Time heals, and please know that he probably didn't intend to hurt you. Being dumped is a *****, and thirteen years is a long time, but you get through it, eventually. Pax vobiscum.
