When does summer unofficially start/end in your area?

Our summers are short (about June 10 to August 31)

Officially starts on the Summer Solstice, usually on June 21.
Officially ends on the Atuminal Equinox, usually on Sept. 21

I live in Southern California. Unofficially starts sometime in April or May. Unifficially ends in Late October or early November.

I live in Australia in a warm temperate zone and our year is divided by 4 seasons .

Spring......September 1 to November 30.

Summer....December 1 to February 28 (or 29)

Autumn......March 1 to May 31

Winter........June 1 to August 31

Unofficially Summer really starts in November and can go to the end of March . Sometimes our Spring season can be colder than normal. Our Autumn can sometimes be unusually warm.

I think our weather is influenced by the fact that our country is really an island and is affected by the oceans.

I'm on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We broke out our shorts and tank tops a few weeks ago (early March). The worst of the dog days will be in August and September, but the shorts and tank tops will stay out until around Thanksgiving. A lot of us don't even own really heavy coats, or if we do, they rarely come out of the closet.

Down here in the Sunshine State our seasons have different names and durations
Winter: about a week, or maybe two if we're lucky, sometime around January with possible few days recurrence in February.
Hot: from around April until around October...sometimes staying around right up into December
Warm: any times not covered by the Winter and Hot seasons.
