you don't mean copyright, but rather permissions. playing for people is a performance. the composer will be a member of performance rights organization such as ASCAP or BMI. The venue where you perform is responible for paying these fees to ASCAP and BMI as appropriate. The information is posted on the web at ASCAP.com and BMI.com
