No. It was not a real event. However, the 'first' Hills Have Eyes was 'loosely' based on the story of a family of cannibals that lived in the hills of SCOTTLAND in the 1600s!!! LOL! How Wes Craven got from 1600 Scottland to 1970s California desert and then saying it was 'based on true events' just baffles me. I mean, for real, how many nuclear weapons causing mutation do you suppose was available in Scottland in the 1600s? LOL! I wish they would just stop saying a movie is 'loosely based on'. I mean, sometimes when I'm not even hungry, I'll see someone eating a hamburger and then I'll be hungry for a hamburger. But, does that mean my hamburger meal is based on their hamburger meal; or does it just mean I was already hungry and just didn't know it? Sorry about the analogy...lol
