I have found the location and the potential shop. However I need to do an initial costing ...any tips on where to buy all the equipment needed?

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Start and Run a Coffee Bar by Tom Matzen, Marybeth Harrison
* Coffee Basics: A Quick and Easy Guide by Kevin Knox
* How to Open a Financially Successful Coffee, Espresso & Tea Shop by Elizabeth Godsmark
* ESPRESSO! Starting and Running Your Own Specialty Coffee Business by Joe Monaghan

find your local restaraunt wholesaler, they will have all of the answers or people to get in touch with. Also look for closed down rest. and they will usually give you a good deal to haul away old stuff you need. (shelves, 3-compartment sinks, tables, utensils, coffee cups, all kinds of goodies!)
Thats where i got all of my equip. when I opened my shop.

be a little crafty minx, go and look around what your competitors are using...

try not to buy NEW stuff, cos there's loads of second hand stuff on the market. as for equipment, you can lease it or buy it outright ..the former being much cheaper initially..

which county (NOT TOWN!!!!) are you in...? so i can give you info on second hand equipment suppliers....
