The Bermuda Triangle has been the topics for many tales in the past. There isn't a concrete answer, though, as to what is going on there to cause all these weird happenings. The most interesting theory I've heard lately is that it is a black hole conected to another black hole by a worm hole. According to this another spot, which just so happens to line up perfectly with the Bermuda Triangle when a line is drwn directly through the Earth to the other side, is experiencing the same "instances." So far this is just a theory, though. Not a lot of evidence.

If you look at the global average of lost planes and ships you quickly see that the Bermuda triangle is no were special. In fact the amount of planes and ships lost there is slightly less then the average for an area with similar traffic. Basically the whole cursed Bermuda triangle thing is a myth.

It's actually believed that there are hot pockets on the ocean floor, that went erupted, creates a huge amount of foam. Boats can't float in foam, and when that huge amount displaces the water, it makes a sort of hole for the boats to fall into. Like wise, the bursts of steam and gas can take down a small plane on a seemingly beautiful day.
This came out in the 1990s, and since then, there really isn't a bermuda triangle mystery anymore.

There is no secret. It's all a hoax. A guy named Berlitz wrote a book in the 70's talking about strange phenomena etc and he made a fortune off of it. There is no proof anything strange happens there. He blamed all the strange happenings on a civilization that he claimed lived under the ocean. Another book "Bermuda Triangle Mystery - Solved" totally debunked his tales but people tend to forget that one. They like the fairy tale better.

The father of my classmate has gone to Bermuda Triangle but he commented it is just windy and the waves are only powerful. There is no special there. Why not southern hemisphere? It is stormy all-year but why it is not an issue?

Gene is EXACTLY RIGHT. There is no bermuda triangle anomaly. It is all science fiction crapola. I have flown through this so called area hundreds of time in my air force jet fighter back in the 70s, day and night, all kinds of weather. No problems. It IS ALL CRAP.

I understand there to be many different reasons why.
1. It has lots of boats/planes etc travelling in that area and statically there are more "accidents" than in other places.
2. There is possilby some magnetic field problem in the area that could affect instruments
3. Many of the "lost boats/planes" can be explained in logical terms now (ie they have found them)
