What is this country coming to? We have 20 months til elections and I fear there will be bloodshed and violence in the streets of America if this trend continues. Please don't give the govenment an excuse to impose martial law!

The constitution gives us the right to 'peaceably assemble'. I could not find the word 'protest' in my copy of the bill of rights.

Those groups hate Amercia and intolerance to the opposing point of view. Their hatred is without logic.

The bill of rights gives the right to peaceably assemble. It protects the right of free speech (from government interference) and it guarantees the right to "petition the government for a redress of grievances". And that is protest.
The only time I remember anyone being killed in a demonstration (and I go back to Vietnam) was when the National guard opened up with live ammunition on the protestors at Kent Stateand killed four students.

First of all, Zack, in case you missed the news, the Cold War ended about 20 years ago. Second of all, I thought that America had this thing called 'free speech'? Third of all, it is usually students and academics that are smart enough to see what governments are really doing--we should let them give the rest of the public a much needed wake up call rather than allowing the gov't to try to control them--this kind of control is what happens in totalitarian states. Is that what America is becoming?

Don't worry about this. Colleges have dealt with disruptions before and it's much easier now than it was in the 60's. There will be no martial law.

Oh no! They "interfere" by exercising their right to protest? Cons sure love to get their shorts in a knot over rights guaranteed in the constitution they don't like - don't they? Why not lets ban the constitution when a con disagrees - would that make the "patriots" happy? Morons.
