For the customers: To get a fix for their salty chicken or french fries cravings.

besides of the obvious purpose of making money, fast food chain were created as a necessity for our ever changing society. nowadays we can't eat breakfast with the family we are too busy trying to survive the week between job and family, and school. We no longer have the time to do that anymore. you know why? Employers are taking our souls by putting us to work 10 to15 hours a day, our landlord is trying to squeeze our pockets with rent so high as the sun and what is left to us is nothing else but to looks ways to buy cheap and fast service food. do you think that a rich person go to MacDonald's everyday????

To hurt as many people in this world as I possibly can. I would consider myself to be a very hateful person. I just cant stand people not suffering throughout this world. This is just so fair to live in a world where few people care for each other, where people are so busy in their own affairs that they have no clue of what's going on around them. Amen.

Number one reason to make money. It is stupid to have places right next to each other for instance I work at McDonald's where our neighbors are Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts, and KFC and of course everyone still comes to McDonald's i don't know why its so nasty

Their is no point of these of places. We would be much better off in this country, if we did not have these evil places that kill people on a daily basis. A person could live without a big mac, fries and a drink. Eat some vegetables and fruit instead, they are better for you anyway, and are not evil, like all fast food places are.

Franchises make money for the owners and feed people who want to get a bit of lunch in 5 minutes instead of sitting around waiting for a waitress to hand you a menu at the local restaurant. Or haven't you waited 10-20 minutes for food to be served to you plus you dont' have to tip the server or pay 20.00 for lunch its more like 5.00.

Bottom line?....to make money. For the most part that's the whole purpose of any business.

originally it was to provide good tasting food quickly in a sanitary location at a fairly low price (i.e. white castle). Now it's to serve low quality food flavored with fat salt and artificial flavors so they can make money off their abysmally low prices. (kind of like what happened to coffee)

the purpose of these conglomerates has long been passe.

when they were first invented , they were a delightful change from regular hum drum dining. by now, they have become hum drum themselves because part of their charm was the cheap prices and they don't exist anymore.

the purpose is for the companies to make money & for you to get fast food...by the tone of you question, it sounds like you think they serve no purpose & perhaps for you they don't,,,there are lots of other places to get a meal.
