Sounds to me to be the fuel pump, but it also could be the 'screen'like a filter. It filters the gas before going into the pump. When you set.The screen may be clogged some and allows for the gas to still get into it.Then when you drive. It uses this gas and cannot filter the gas fast enough for the pump to keep pumping gas to the engine. The fuel pump is located in the tank. The screen is attached to it.Have someone listen into the tank filler neck as you turn the key to the 'On' position without starting. You should hear a whirring sound for a few seconds while the pump is actuating to make pressure. If hno whirring sound.Replace pump and screen. If you get the whirring sound from the pump.Just replace the screen. This is very common.

Check for a bad ignition coil or igniter that only gets flaky after it has heated up. Until the component gets really bad, you may find that the engine is fine in town when the ignition system is not having to fire as often.
