It's an emotional affair, but why they had those feelings if they were happy with you, is what I would want to find out. I think cheating should be defined as one person doing something to or with another person that they wouldn't do if their wife/gf was standing right there.

How do you no they never slept together were you with them when they got together or did he or she tell you they never did it.I no It's easier that way but you don't have feelings for
someone for a hole year without doing something about it.The feelings they had would have built up to the point where they couldn't keep their hands off of each other no one is that strong.Sorry but they had an affair.

if you tell your spouse (politely) that you are considering having an affair, chances are they will politely put a pillow over your face while you are sleeping. You can "politely" talk to your spouse and try to work out some problems that might drive you to an affair but once the affair happens all politeness goes out the windows.
