The telescope is about 35cm in diameter and has a Brass strip around the edge with some ornaments on the top and it is designed to hang in a window. The more you move back from it the more it magnifies just like a magnifying glass.

Hi. It's a Schmidt telescope which has a corrector plate (window with an aspherically curve) I believe. http://www.seven.com.au/sundaysunrise/features_041024_watson
I have a Schmidt-Newtonian with the same kind of plate at one end.
