I'm talking unity here folks------not a dem or rep-------just an honest American that wishes to do the right things to help us--------suppose this person was not of your usual chosen party affiliation-------for or against?

I did some research on this Fred Thompson Ex Senator mentioned here-----he looks like a fine choice.

That would be nice, but he/she will never make it through the primaries. He/she would also need a lot of money to back them, and get support. The facts are the American people say they want an honest man/woman to run the country, but they don't. If a totally honest person did, we would never win the war on terror. There is a fact. Like Mr. Bush said in his first speech to the American people after 9/11, to find these terrorist maniacs, America is going to have to get down, and dirty, talk to criminals, etc. A totally honest president wouldn't do that. He would be too honest. By the way, do you know anyone totally honest? I don't.

It would be a lovely idea that an honest non partisan and capable American could be a presidential Candidate.
But America has deliberately chosen and developed a 2
party system and has thereby voluntarily restricted its
eventual choice to 2 candidates.
Unless the independent is a bulti - millionaire he can't possibly expect to get anywhere, especially now that
the campaigns begin to reach lengths of 2 years.
You would be forced to spend obscene amounts of money
to challenge the Democrats and Republicans, they have
effectively cornered the market, and owe the rights to
the American democracy.
It doesn't matter how good or fit or appropriate any other candidate is,
Sad but true !
