i mean, even before i saw the afi rankings n saw citizen kane thought it was mind blowing. a distant second for me is vertigo 'cause it is so mesmerizing. n ofcourse audrey hepburn makes any of her movies enchanting. it's always such a pleasure n privilege to watch her.

also, forgot two masterpieces by Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray- Charulata (my preferred choice) n Pather Panchali (critic's choice). These two just a tad below Citizen Kane

I truly love 'The Count of Monte Cristo'
Kept me in it the whole time and such a great story line. Un-predictable and captivating.
Usually I am a comedy or old-films girl, but I *love* that movie. And I am hard to please in the films department. lol.
As for an all-around great movie, it scores a 10 in my book!

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Read the book first, then watch the movie.

I like epic movies, so would have to say, Ben-Hur, at the other extreme, Shawshank Redemption was also excellent.
