I'm planning on seeing Grindhouse, and then later, 300, with my friends, who are all 14-16. I was wondering, does my mom have to buy a ticket for herself and watch the movie with us, or does she just have to be at the box office when we purchase the tickets? It's fine either way, it would just be less of a hassle if we could buy it ourselves...
Also, what if you buy tickets online beforehand? Obviously then, my parent already consented and bought the tickets. Does she still have to come?

Trust me, they have to see the movie with you. I wanted to see Saw 3 and my mom was going to see if she can just buy the ticket, but no, she has to watch with me. The funny thing is that there was a woman with a 7 year old that bought two tickets for the both of them to see the movie.

I used to go see R rated movies all the time when I was about that age. I was never accompanied by a parent and the theaters never asked me to show ID. Depending oon the theater your mom or dad might have to buy the ticket for you, but afterwards they can just leave you with your friends. Or, ask them to check out Fandango.com they can pre order the tickets for you, so there's no standing in the long ticket line.

Depends on your theater's policy. (You may be able to find the policy online and nearly all theaters will furnish a copy to you at your request.) Many chain theaters (AMC, Lowe's) require not only an adult to purchase your ticket, but to accompany you into the theater, as many of them have a "guard" stationed outside the theater door.
Many times if there is a large group of you entering the theater, 5 or more, the "movie police" typically don't question you.
As for the online ticket purchase, if your mother will give you the credit card that the tix were puchased on you can use that at the kiosk (if your theater has one) that way you can avoid the ticket window altogether. For that matter you can also buy tickets at many of the kiosks, bypassing the annoying theater security!

your parents must purchase the tickets for you. and if you buy on line some will card you when you go to pick the ticket up but since you cannot get a credit card or a bank account until you are 18 (on your own). some let it slide.

The theatres around my house card you when you purchase and at the door so usually your parents have to be with you or at least buy a ticket and act like they are going to stay in the theatre...

for most movies she just has to purchase...there are SOME movies where they card at the door of the theatre as well (for example texas chainsaw massacre -2004). they are most strict about this on opening weekend. call the theatre or ask at the ticket booth.

I'm sure you would have to have an adult present to watch the movie. You could try getting by with it though. Buy the tickets online & appear older when you give it to the guy/girl.

no, just buy a ticket for a movie playing around the time your movie starts, but make sure that you get it on the same side that the R movie is on. they will never know and if you get caught, say you got lost

R rated means you have to be 17 or 18 (depending on the law where you live) to enter the movie theater. It doesn't matter who tries to come with you or how you bought the tickets, you will not be allowed inside if your ID doesn't show you to be of age.
