WE may not become a third world nation, but one thing is for sure and that is that our standard of living is decreasing. just the other day leading economists predicted that the next generation of americans will be the first in history to not have a better or the same standard of living as their parents. alot is happening worldwide to cause this some of it is our doing some is not! the fact that we are spending so much money nation building in other countries is something that doesn't bode well for the future of this country. that is money that could be better spent on educating our people or improving our infrastructure, but we are spending it on frivolous wars with no real clear objective. another thing is that while we are doing all of this china and russia and many other countries once thought inferior are rapidly growing their economies. americans greed and thirst for cheap products are actually sealing our eventual decline in the world. we must ask ourselves waht do we really want?? do we want cheap products and a lower standard of living for all or are we willing to pay more for american made products that employ americans at a good wage and raise the standard of living for all? this may sound like a political jab, but here it goes. as long as the republicans control the goverment this will only get worse, because they are totally controlled by the big corporations that will eventually make america a substandard country. so the next time you go to walmart and buy all of those cheap chinese products just remember that you are only helping america to sink deeper into oblivion.

I'm with ladytob................. I know we are no where near a third world countries poverty BUT I'm in Southern California and it is amazing to see our cities (Huntington Park, Maywood, Bell, Santa Ana) have turned into little Tijuana. They are dirty and disgusting. They no longer look like an American city. The illegals have taken over.
What is next?? My city in 10, 15, 20 years??

What is a third world nation? We are becoming a "non country" in a big world; no borders, no rules, but lots of taxes for everyone else.

Actually its worse. We are becoming an old EUropean nation. The class structure is being set. Large companies has become so big that it destroys AMerica's ability to innovate and for small companies to pop up.

NO; Gosh, I am sick of Americans trying to downgrade this country. I have met A LOT of people from different countries, and they all believe the same thing... that America is the (and I quote this from someone that I knew from China) "Greatest country in the world."
So shut up and stop listening to that stupid propaganda that stupid liberals are spreading about us. People still think highly of America, just not highly of the Bush Administration.
The economy goes up and down, that is NATURAL. Every country has its flaws. A lot of European countries have EXTREMELY HIGH TAXES. And the cost of living in Europe is an arm and an leg. My family from London was complaining about he price of food being TOO EXPENSIVE. Americans are fine, we are not OBESE for no reason. If we were truly becoming a "third world country" don't you think that we would be having food problems? Of course not a lot of people are not employed... America has had a 18% increase of population for the past 10 years. We have the second largest population IN THE WORLD. We have just surpassed India a few motnhs ago. So stop this nonsense.

Sounds like you need a trip to Nigeria. Spend a week or two there, then ask that question.
