Theortically this would be great, but I would bring some cold clothes along just in case... this weather can change on you in a jiffy!
It's been nice all this week, sunny, but definitely not hot. I've been wearing a thermal/t-shirt combo or long sleved tee all week because it is really breezy. Shorts are doable as legs seem more resistant to the cold. But it's a little too chilly for me personally so I wear jeans. So the layered shirt/ short combo seems like a good idea.
Also, it will be a little hotter in napa so you can just take off a layer and be fine.

Well hello there! San Francisco is usually pretty chilly in the mornings during the spring but it does warm up; so if you're not too cold blooded, I'd suggest shorts or some comfortable pants. Layered Shirts to napa? Well, you might end up stripping off some layers- In San Fran layers are okay, but in Napa it gets pretty warm and they could become a hassle. Don't wear Sandals, simply because in San Francisco you'll get your toes stepped on, and make sure you bring a nice sweatshirt because it does get cold sometimes in the bay. Finally, bring an allergy pill; because the North Bay is home to the worst allergies I've ever experience despite the fact I live there.
Have fun!

napa right now is in the low to mid 70s during the day, high usually in mid to late afternoon. Mornings are still chilly and can be foggy. Yesterday it was only like 40 when i left for work at 7:30am.
For the next week or so, we are expecting highs from 68 - 79 and lows from 43 - 49. I personally wouldn't wear shorts, but that's me. I go to work too early in the morning to wear shorts. So I tend to wear capris more. I just broke out the sandals last week. And usually just wear a light sweater etc.
Nights can be pretty chilly up in napa.
it has never been in the 80s or 90s in Napa for the last 6 years that I have lived here. We don't usually hit that temp until august. other people saying that are insane. Average high is only 71 and low 45.
It will be pleasant but not hot. bring shorts and maybe either jeans or chino pants of some kind. layers are the key to napa.

Hi,
I would not recommend any shorts for San Francisco at all, if you do not want to be recognized as a tourist in the first place.
My experience is, that even in summer it gets fairly cold (compared to Napa or South Bay) in San Francisco, so the only people wearing shorts are normally tourists who do not know better.
I would go for some pants and wear layered shirts, as you can expect nice and warm weather in Napa.

To misquote T.S. Eliot, April can be the coldest month. Weather in S.F. can be changeable any month, but in April you get a lot of wind and it is cold. The sun may shine during the day, but by 3pm the wind has picked up and you will be wishing you had your jeans and a good sweatshirt. We always travel with a sweatshirt or jacket in the car no matter what the weather in the morning. You might catch some warm days, but for comfort's sake, try long pants, t shirt and sweatshirt, closed shoes for walking. Napa can be warmer, but a warm layer is still a good idea. Any spot inland should be warmer than S.F., but April can be fickle.

San Francisco is cold all year long, so bring long pants and a heavy sweater or jacket. Layers are perfect.
Napa is warmer, but still relatively cool. However, recently the weather in CA has been wonky, record highs one week, record lows the next. You should bring warm and cold weather shirts, however you most likely will not need shorts.

napa is more hot so shorts and shirts are fine. san francisco is unpredictable, you just never know when the fog and the wind will come out so be prepared with warmer clothes just in case. I see tourists freezing their buns off in san francisco all year because they think it's perpetually 70-80 degrees here with sunshine.

I would pack pants & shorts both. Also a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt type jacket, aka hoodie. It could be warm in the 80s or 90s or it could be colder, in the 50s or 60s. Layerd clothing is good too if you can remove a layer & still be comfortable.
Be prepared for fog too. It comes in off the ocean & is referred to as pea soup fog, which is thick & dense.
Even with the weather in some cities in Calif reaching the 80s or 90s during the day, aroundabout 3-4 pm, the air starts cooling off. It'll drop as low as the 40s in some areas. That's why you'll need pants & a jacket.

I stay in Napa and devoid of exception the terrific time is for the period of the weigh down or harvest. there is lots of activity via fact the winemakers hustle to get grapes in on the peak of flavor. that's in late August or early September. the midsection of summer season is favourite and crowded. in case you pick to come lower back in September you may get cooler climate and the relaxing of the weigh down. do no longer pass over the recent Castilla di Amorosa vineyard that's properly certainly worth the value to get in. i'd plan which wineries you will pass to. we are no longer wine bugs ourselves however the extreme end places are plenty nicer; we in many situations get gourmand sandwiches on the Rutherford marketplace or Dean and Delucca and picnic at those places. i'd additionally recommend the wine practice regardless of the blatant touristic (new be conscious) high quality. Take the midday practice as you will discover the valley all the way there and lower back devoid of dusk slicing out the later component of the holiday. it is likewise the comparable journey for much less dough. The nutrition is exceedingly first rate and we recomend having lunch then dessert as unfavourable to the appitizer then lunch option. in case you come to Napa later interior the autumn or interior the wet season (Nov - Feb) the practice may well be fairly constructive. We nevertheless do it and we are living here. As for eats there are various great places; yet maximum are a minimum of $20 a plate. you may get an basic and smart dinner at Taylor's refresher in St Helena (north endo of the valley). Taylors is the utmost end hamburger joint you have ever been to. a million/2 the people there once you pass to would be millionares and 1 / 4 would be from Europe. The locals attend religiously. in case you have young toddlers i'd deliver a soccer ball. We do and many times impromptu video games take place on the backyard. in case you pick greater end attempt Travigna precise around the line from Taylor's or The Rutherford Grill in Rutherford (a million/2 way up the valley) the two are great. smart fish may well be had at a place called the marketplace in St Helena. that's decrease priced for the valley yet there is linen on the table and a stable wine record. somebody else can handle SF. yet i will declare get your Alcatraz reservations now on line as they are going to be bought out once you arrive. additionally come interior the summertime and brind a coat.

Bay Area weather is very untrustworthy this time of year. If you were here today you'd be fine in shorts and a shirt. In a week, who knows. It could be cold and raining again.
San Francisco can get very cold at a moment's notice.
I would say that you need to bring both warm and cooler clothes.
