How many times have you met someone who says, "Hello, My name is Buck Rogers Smith. Nah, he would say, "Hi, I'm Buck Smith". Then you could make fun of him later for having the name Buck. I don't think anyone will even notice the name (after the baby announcements are sent out there will be a little murmur through the crowd but it will die down). And, it makes for a funny story in college. "My parents were so weird..."
My husband's middle name is Blaine. I think that is more puzzling than Jack Bauer. :^)

I don't think its that bad I mean honestly how often do you use your full middle name anyway. Now if your last name was bauer I'd strongly think about naming your son Jack but ultimately this is your decision. If you and your husband like the name then go for it your right by the time your child is in middle/highschool nobody will remember who "Jack Bauer" on 24 is anyway.

Cheesy? Yes. But you're right about in a few years, no one will remember or even care. And later in life, it will be kind of like a "whu.....? Jack who? Oh with that one tv show. ok." It won't be a big deal at all. Personally, I think having Bauer as a middle name would be cool because it's not well known.

I think only time will tell whether the name Jack Bauer will live on in people's minds or not.
Celebrity or character names that are "ruined" for general use in my opinion would include:
Anna Nicole
Ellie Mae
Michael Jordan
Michale Jackson
James Bond
Tommy Lee

Jack Bauer is actually quite a cool name - you wouldn't automatically associate with the TV show unless you watched it - probably in a few years most people will have forgotten about it anyway. If you love the name then use it, who cares what anybody else thinks. ;-)

Unfortunately it would be cheesy. You know the guy that plays him; his first name is Kiefer, so I was thinking of Kiefer Jack.
His full name is Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland; that's a long name. Kiefer Jack William.
William Jack or Jack William Dale. Jack William sounded so incomplete; you know like Olga Bertha.

No I think it is a lovely name. There are alot of people out there that dont watch the show such as myself. If I met you and you told me his name I wouldn't even know that it was off 24!

Cheesy? No. But putting B and J together in any childs name is an unpardonable sin for which the parents should be whipped.
