it's usually the emotions related to the procedure getting pierced is a rush, it's exciting. having blood drawn (for example) has emotions dealing more with things like worry ("what will they find" and "am i ok")

I don't know. I've never had anything pierced except my ears. However, I take an insulin shot every day, some times twice. I give it to my self with no problem. I've been doing it for years, so I'm used to it. Maybe your freaked because their injecting you with something. Piercing is only making a hole and not putting something into your blood stream. Just a thought.

I agree, and I am the same way. I hated needles and getting shots when I was young , yet later in life i got ten tattoos, lol. i can't explain it. I think it has something to do with the fear of being in a doctor's office.
