I watched Interview with a Vampire and I noticed that Dunst kisses Brad Pitt. I believe she was about 10 years old when she made the movie. I was too young to actually remember the news headlines when the movie came out in the 90's. Just wanted to know if the movie took any slack for her giving him that little kiss.

No, because it was overshadowed by the controversy of casting Tom Cruse in the role of Lestat. People who read to book were aghast as his characters up to that date did not show he had enough of a range to pull it off.

Even the author of the book, Ann Rice, was against casting him in the role as he had wanted Rutger Hauer to play the lead (she did apologize to Cruise after seeing the movie as she liked him in the role).

Eventually the overall general consensus was that Cruise pulled of a convincing performance in the role, although there are fans of the book will dispute that even to this day.

Apparently not. In fact, Kirsten Dunst received a Golden Globe nomination for that film.
