Intelligence: I consider myself to be somewhat smart and need someone who I can actually have a conversation with about something other than what happened on TV last week.
Sense of Humor: Everyone says this, but it is important. I love to laugh and I love to make other people laugh. Things are funnier when you have someone to laugh with.
Friends outside the relationship: I can not stress this enough. Even if you have been dating/married for a long time you need friends that are not mutual. I simply can't spend every hour of every day with someone without them becoming annoying. I'm only talking about a couple days each month, but it is important to recharge the relationship batteries.
