Well my answer isn't as sweet as all the rest. I think you shouldn't be making that choice for her. The right time to get your daughter's ears pierced is when she wants them. Usually around the 12-13 year mark. I have a daughter who didn't have any hair for the first year of life - I never thought of getting her ears pierced just so people would be able to tell if she was a girl. All her pretty dresses did the trick. When she reaches a mature enough age or when she starts asking us, then we'll chat!

What is wrong with you people!!! I believe getting your ears pierced is a right of passage, a sign that your little girl is growing up. Besides, some people have no inclination to ever have them pierced. Have you ever seen a baby get its ears pierced. They scream and cry and look for you to make them feel better. And your the reason for it! I couldn't stand when my daughter got her first shorts. I would never think of making her go through that just for earrings!!!

I think that's really young. My mom waited until I was four to get my ears pierced. I know it's popular to get infants ears pierced while they're very young, but everytime I saw it done to a child under 2, it always looked like they were torturing the kid. I know that it makes it way easier for mom to take care for baby's earrings, but I think it's still a little early, some places won't do it unless the kid is a certain age, too.

In my family we get the girls ears pierced when they're newborns. Some have even had it done in the hospitals the days they get released to go home, so I would say right now is a good time to get it done. My daughter is due in May and I plan on having her ears pierced right away. I already have the earrings ready.

I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was exactly one year old. She would not leave them alone. I tried every child proof earring and she always found a way to get them out. I finally gave up.

She got them pierced again when she was about 13 or 14 years old. If I had it to do over again, I'd have just waited until she was ready.

We want them to be cute and feminine, but really we need to let them grow up and decide on their own.

To be honest with you 4 months ago would have been the best time. When they are 3 months old is the best because they don't even know that they have ears at that point and so they don't mess around with the earrings.
Take your daughter to a place that you trust and ask them what they think...They may tell you that now is fine, or they may tell you that it would be best to wait a little bit.

I had my daughter's done at 3 months, But then one of the earring came out and I had to replace them. I ended up taking them out, Because she likes to pull on her ears. She is now 15 months, and I am thinking of re-doing them, But I think you should wait til your little one is over a year old. I myself had my ears done at a early age and had to have them re-done when I was 5. Why twice the pain?

6 to 8 months is a good time.. I did my girls as soon as they would allow me. It is sooo much better to do it when they are a baby..they won't remember it and it really is over quickly. Just have a baby cookie ready and a bottle after they are pierced to calm them down quickly

When she is old enough to ask, it's her body, why not let it be her choice? I have 4 girls and I'm sorry but piercing a baby's ears is wrong on many levels.
