The badges are dynamic, to quote the A-Team "Top Contributors are not permanent, which is to say you must continue to be an active answerer in order to retain a Top Contributor badge. Similarly, even if you are not a Top Contributor today, you can earn the badge by contributing high quality answers in any category or multiple categories of your choosing."
There is a rumor going around saying you need a best answer percentage of 10%. That has not been confirmed by the Answers staff and is not true as far as we know. They have not, and will not reveal the formula used to determine "top contributors". You can read all about the badges here -

Also keep in mind it's a brand new feature and they are still working out the exact formula to recognize quality over quantity, so there may be a few glitches here and there, such as the badges appearing and disappearing in a short time period.

Well sweetheart sorry to say but I believe they just made a mistake of some kind. Look at your profile, and then at the Top Contributors profiles. You have less than 100 correct answers. I believe all of them because they have been in her a long time have multiple hundres of correct answers in this section.
Plus ratings change....correct answers, stars you get,.....a lot of people got them today. Then there may have been a glick in the system or something.
Don't worry sweetheart. When you rise to the top you will have earned it, and it will feel better.

But, seriously, you have to keep answering like a maniac to keep the award. I have a friend that lost hers, too. I've seen several people post about it. Just get busy answering in that category and I'm sure you'll get it back.

this relies upon upon the consumer, and how energetic he/she is. i'm on Yahoo! solutions from 4 months and characteristic merely 950 factors. yet an additional reason you're a correct contributor is that you've a strong perfect answer percentage.

Yahoo is still in the process of tweaking the system that decides if you are a TC or not. Do not be surprised if it comes and goes a few more times before they decide how they want it to be.
