Creative nonfiction is a form of journalism that uses literary techniques to tell what is essentially a nonfiction story. Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, Truman Capote, P.J. O'Rourke and Norman Mailer are all examples. It's more often found in books, magazines and alternative weeklies than in newspapers.
