Why do immature people always vote democrat, but then vote for conservatives as they grow up?

Caitlin, I have very few friends that have earned less than doctorates, they are all conservatives, save one, she's a librarian and is so caught up in the artificial world of academia, she is easily confused and snookered. She's currently trying to figure out why her unmarried twenty year old daughter is doing drugs and is now pregnant... Could be the "It's all all right, no judgement, no right and wrong" boundaries she was raised to believe.
As for the question posed, it's a lot like being a parent. In the eyes of your children, you're a god until they get to be around 10, then you're an embarrassment. By the time they're teen agers, you're a babbling idiot who just simply cannot possibly understand. But, when they get into their 20s suddenly -- almost over night, and miraculously, you've grown a brain. Sadly, some people never grow up.

Why do immature people log onto yahoo answers and lob bombs at people on the other side?

Even in my darkest moments I cannot accuse all conservatives of being immature or stupid. However some of them are, and unfortunately that number does seem to include the President of the United States.

I am continually astonished as to how anyone on the right can continue to support Bush, who is 1) clearly and grossly incompetent, and 2) not even a 'real' conservative in the classical sense. It is greatly to the left's credit that they have opposed W as long and as hard as they have, and it will be a lasting mark of dishonor for the right that they went along with him for as long as they did.

Not all democrats are completely Liberal. I consider myself a moderate democrat. I definitely wouldn't consider many of the republicans on here grownups. Have you seen some of the stuff said?

That's not true, therefore, no answer. Like if I said "why are all republicans illiterate cow dung?" when really only the prez & the vice are such. Well, a few more, but definitely there must be 5 good and really straight (not just on paper but banging priests & pages) people among you.

Actually, if you look at trends, those with higher-level degrees tend to be more liberal than those with only a Bachelors.

Maybe we should just let the most knowledgeable run the country?

YOU are a child for generalizing and judging others who have viewpoints different from your's. I also have known some pretty immature people who are republican so it goes both ways, not just the way you want to see it.

You confuse fear and paranoia with growing up. I would love to see a grown up run the country. Unfortunately, grown ups who think rationally and with reason aren't in the white house these days. They haven't been since 2000.

That older more conservative stuff is just a fantasy. The truth is people change based on perspective and experience. I for one became more liberal as I got older - and quite a number of my acquaintances did too.
